Last month Masahiro Tanaka signed
the fifth-largest contract for a pitcher in major league history. Today, GM
Brian Cashman said, "We view him to be a really solid, consistent No. 3
starter.”
Given the Yankee’s history, Cashman
is attempting to lower fan expectations and transitioning to MLB will likely be
a challenge for Tanaka. Giving Cashman a pass on acquiring a $155 million No. 3
starter, will he please tell us who on the staff he considers a No. 1 and/or a
No. 2.
The boys at the diner said most of the staff pitches like No. 2 but I think they meant something else.
