Good News

Good news is sometimes hard to come by (and impossible to find if you watch Fox) but what could be finer baseball news than to hear that the Blue Jays have signed Omar Vizquel, if only for an opportunity to come to camp and compete.

The 3-time All Star, "The Minister of Defense", will be 45 this season. He is admired and respected throughout baseball and we may have an opportunity to see him in the twilight of his career in Toronto.

Adam Bunch at 'the little red umbrella' was kind enough to share some "old" Omar stats and facts:

...no one in the majors today has played more games or had more at-bats than him
...no one else has ever played more games as a shortstop, ever
...he played against a guy who had played against Mickey Mantle
...he's older than nine of the 30 teams in baseball
...when he started his career, the Yankees still sucked

Rest Easy.
